Tubelight is an independent Dutch art magazine founded in 1998 in Rotterdam. Published quarterly and distributed free at over 200 galleries and art institutions, it focuses on short, critical reviews of contemporary art exhibitions.

The essay Desiring Landscapes, published in issue 130 of Tubelight (themed The Erotics of Nature), explores feminist and queer depictions of landscapes as sites of desire, dissolution, and ecstatic entanglement. Through Derek Jarman’s film In the Shadow of the Sun (1974–81), Jenny Hval’s novel Girls Against God (2020), and eco-poetic works by Himali Singh Soin, the essay examines how landscapes resist the colonial gaze by becoming volatile, sensual agents rather than passive backdrops. Drawing on Jack Halberstam’s concept of wildness as a queer refusal of mastery, the analysis considers how the feral and untamed open space for alternative erotic relations beyond ownership and control. → Read
